Don't settle insurance claims on first offer, the real # is more!

I saw an insurance claim yesterday for a contractor's client and the first offer was $9,000 and the damage is over $20,000. It is unbelievable how insurance adjusters low ball claims and expect the homeowner to just roll over and accept the incomplete assessments.Ice dam damage in Mass

Yesterday's visit shows that insurance adjuster estimates can not be trusted. Most consumers are at a disadvantage when they receive the estimate from the adjuster. Here in New England we are flooded with insurance claim adjusters from other parts of the country and they have no clue what is required for code in Massachusetts. Therefore the claim assessments are missing scope of work that will be required when the work is underway.

The solution is to let your customer know that you can help them receive a fair settlement that is representative of their damage. Never take the first offer from the insurance company. It is always lower than what they are obligated to pay.

In our Insurance Claim workshop we will teach contractors how to protect homeowners from being a victim of low ball insurance estimates.
