Another contractor death..26 yo not wearing OSHA req. fall protection

Another contractor fell to his death in Leominster, Mass. only a few miles from my home. Twenty six year old Nicholas Kallio, was working in an aerial lift and did not wear OSHA required fall protection. He fell over 50 feet to his death after a portion of the tree he was removing hit the lift he was working in. OSHA requires that while working on an aerial lift, workers must tie off to the bucket. Contractor worked on a frame, he fell and then he died

Another worker without fall protection, fell to his death in Massachusetts. Last week on 1/14/2016 in Sutton, Ma. 22 year old Ricardo R. Oliveira fell 25 feet while working on a job site at 449 Central Turnpike. He was transported by a life flight helicopter to a Worcester hospital. He died a few days after succumbing to his injuries. I doubt he went to work thinking he was going to die but that is what happened.

OSHA Fines MA Contractor 5 times in 2015, 4 fall protection violations

Hard to believe but a Mass contractor (Force Corp) found a way to be cited and fined by OSHA 5 times in one year! The latest citation includes fines of $91,000.00. One would think that once would be enough to change your ways but for some reason this contractor has not. Is it possible that making a profit is more important than protecting and training his workers?

One Mass contractor injured, one crippled and one killed in falls

A few weeks ago Chris Pierce wrote me about his recent long and painful recovery from a fall of a ladder. My first thought was thank God he was alive. Then in a subsequent note he told me he had two friends who were also in a fall accident. One broke his neck falling through a skylight and one was killed after falling 170 feet working on power lines on Cape Cod. I wrote back I am speechless and do not know what to say.

Roofer killed in fall from roof in Westport CT; OSHA investigates

A roofer from Bridgeport CT was killed from a fall while working on a roof in Westport Ct. According to posts from a Channel 12 story the roofer was working at Overlook Dr in Westport. It states OSHA is investigating. Subsequent posts reveal that the name of the person is Walter Pani and he was working for Primrose Co Inc 1425 Noble Av in Bridgeport CT. 06610. The report states that the roofing contractor was in his 20's and leaves a wife and two children. I spoke with a person at the Primrose office today and he said the worker was a subcontractor.
