The EPA RRP Lead Rule states that Certified Firms must document lead-safe practices used on RRP projects and maintain records and documents for three years. (In Massachusetts it is 10 years) This regulation allows the EPA to enforce the RRP Lead Law from the comfort of an office.
Imagine that you receive a call from the EPA about a project you completed two years ago. The call goes something like this; Mr Contractor this is Jane Smith from the EPA. We see you completed a project at 5 Water St in Boston, Mass two years ago. We are auditing contractors in your area and would like to see your records for that project. Please send them by fax to our office by Friday. Thank you. Will you have your records completed and neatly tucked away in the job file in a secure area of your office?
