Mass RRP training 7/19/2012

Posted by Mark Paskell on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 12:14 PM

On 7/19/2012 we are holding a Mass RRP training at Safety Trainers Inc 59 Auburn St Auburn, Massachusetts. The training provider is Safety Trainers Inc. I will be your instructor for the day. The class qualifies for 8 CEU credits for Mass CSL's. Register and reserve your seat.

What's going on with enforcement?

With the summer construction season underway we are getting several calls about enforcement on three fronts;

1. OSHA; Fall Protection is the number one focus for OSHA Compliance Officers. Many contractors are just starting to realize that they have to follow the OSHA Fall Protection directive from December 2010. Reports of OSHA visits are numerous all over New England.

2. Mass Department Labor Standards; RRP inspectors stopping by residential projects has been on the increase since April. We have also had some of our clients say they were visited and everything went fine because they were using what they learned in our RRP training.

3. Division of Industrial Accidents; DIA is very active seeking out contractors who are not playing by the rules. In June an Insurance Agent told us that they knew of 3 projects that were shut down due to lack of worker's compensation coverage.

Another important development is that many agencies are starting to help each other by sharing information on job site visits. Non compliance on OSHA standards discovered by another enforcement agency can be referred to OSHA. My last post on the underground task force talks about agency information sharing.

Mass RRP training on 7/19/2011 starts at 7:30 am and goes until 5:00 pm with lunch included.
