OSHA Fall Protection training must be provided by contractors prior to exposing workers to fall hazards of 6 feet or more above a lower level. This requirement is clearly stated in the OSHA Standards. 1926.503 - Training requirements. When you hire someone new you can not let them go up on heights 6 feet or more above a lower unless they are trained and the training has been certified by a competent person.

OSHA Fall Protection Fines were levied against a Milford Conn. roofing contractor working on a home in Milford, Connecticut. The contractor was cited for repeat and serious violations and faces a total of $44,880 in fines.

Mass Contractors upset about OSHA Fall Protection requirements

Last week in our RRP training at Brockway Smith a student reported about his experience at a recent OSHA Fall Protection Awareness seminar in Andover, Ma held by OSHA. He said there were a lot of angry roofers and contractors at the seminar. Pete told me that many of the contractors present were instructed to be there by OSHA.

The spring is here and the calls are coming in that OSHA has been on residential job sites from the north shore to the end of the cape. Last week four calls; one from a framer, one from a builder/remodeler, one from a roofer and one from a painting contractor.
