You need to complete the Mass application to be registered in the state. If you took the RRP course and applied to the EPA before July 9th you are grandfathered and need to fill out the Waiver application.

If you applied for your firm certification after July 9th then you need to fill out the Mass Lead-Safe Renovation Application.

Hello Paul,

Many contractors are tired of being questioned by homeowners about their price to legally do business. In this tight economy even people of significant means are buying jobs from the non compliant contractor. These consumers are also using these low ball estimates to beat up the good guys. The longer this keeps going the greater the chances of guys who play the by the rules closing their doors. Something has to change. I have never heard so many guys as now willing to make the call or drop a dime. The guys I talk to say it is survival.

What else would you suggest?

We already know that the EPA doesn't have the resources. Building inspectors have enough on their plate and homeowners are very willing to consider the illegal guy.
