EPA RRP Training Long island, New York

Spring is here and we are getting requests to bring our EPA RRP Training back to Long Island, New York.

Many Long Island contractors elected to not certify their employees or companies last year due the EPA extension of 6/18/2010 delaying enforcement.

However things are changing. Contractors are telling us that many of the towns in Suffolk and Nassau Counties are requiring that contractors show proof that they are EPA Certified.

Many contractors dodged a bullet last year taking a calculated risk that the EPA would not be out enforcing. They gambled and won. However things are likely to change. A few weeks ago a Connecticut company was nailed for $30,700 for not following the EPA RRP Lead Law. The siding and window company was cited 17 times for not fllowing the pre education requirement. The following brochure needs to be given prior to starting work on pre 1978 properities.

We have informed contractors that they should make sure that they follow the documentation requirements of the law. The EPA can go back on companies for three years checking to see if they followed the documentation protocols.

This means that they can go back to jobs done last year on Long Island and ask to see records. If you have none you can be fined. If they catch you and you are not certified the risks are even greater.

Next training on Long Island;

May 2nd, 2011 in Riverhead
