RRP Implementation Workshop 4 Mass Contractors Is Back

RRP is a law that most contractors have mixed emotions about. Since the law became effective in April of 2010 many contractors have taken the 8 hour one day course. However not many have implemented the law into their business practices and they have not applied for the required Certified Firm (Lead Safe Renovation Contractor in Mass) license.

OSHA focus on residential contractors spurs interest in OSHA 10 & 30

OSHA is focusing heavily on the residential construction industry in Region 1 and most other jurisdictions. Currently in the 2013 10 most cited standards you will find fall protection related violations are the most common. They are Subpart M (duty to have fall protection), Subpart L (scaffolding) and Subpart X (ladders).

Fall Protection violations again is the number one most cited violation on OSHA's top 10 list for 2012-2013. In fact of the top 10 the construction industry is responsible for 3 of the most cited: fall protection, scaffolding and ladders.

OSHA offices closed due to government shut down

OSHA offices are closed and most activity has come to a halt due to the government shut down. I called the OSHA office in Braintree this week and was greeted by a voice message that they are closed. However they will answer calls for complaints and imminnent danger situations.
